Our Identity

New City Fellowship is a community of diverse individuals

who have been radically and gloriously transformed

by the gospel of God’s sovereign grace in Jesus Christ.

By the gracious work of God’s Spirit within us,

we live lives of repentance and faith,

rooted in the Word of God,

rejoicing in our new identity in Christ,

and looking forward to the return of our Savior,

who will take us to our eternal, heavenly home.

We are a community that aspires to speak the truth in love to one another,

and to lovingly proclaim the gospel to those outside as well,

as we joyfully live by the power of the Spirit,

with our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ,

being constantly conformed more and more to his image,

to the glory and praise of God.

Our Mission

To be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ,

by God’s grace, and for God’s glory.

Our Vision

The decisions we make, and the actions we take,

are for the purpose of seeing

the glory of Jesus Christ, our Savior,

by means of the powerful word of his gospel,

spreading and growing,

in our lives individually,

in our church corporately,

in our marriages and our households,

in our places of work and business,

in our community and abroad.

Our Beliefs

In addition to our Statement of Faith, we also believe, teach, & emphasize the following truths.

 The Apostle’s Creed

 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

     who was conceived by the Holy Spirit;

     born of the virgin Mary;

     suffered under Pontius Pilate;

     was crucified, died, and was buried.

     He descended to the realm of death.

     The third day he rose again from the dead.

     He ascended into heaven,

     and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

     From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

  the holy universal church,

  the communion of the saints,

  the forgiveness of sins,

  the resurrection of the body,

  and the life everlasting.

 The Five Solas

Sola Scriptura. Scripture alone is the final authority for our life and for the exercise of our faith. For "...faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17; cf. Isaiah 55:10–11; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Solus Christus. Christ alone is our Savior. Salvation from sin, and a restored relationship with our Creator, are found only in Christ. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12).

Sola Gratia. Grace alone—and nothing more—is necessary for salvation. "For by grace you have been saved, through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9). God’s grace justifies us, sanctifies us, equips us for every good work, and leads us home (Romans 3:23–24; 6:14; 12:3–8; Titus 2:11–14).

Sola Fide. Faith alone is the means by which God justifies us who believe. "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe." (Romans 3:22) "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law." (Romans 3:27) "Clearly, no one is justified before God by the law, because 'The righteous will live by faith.'" (Galatians 3:11)

Soli Deo Gloria. God’s glory alone is the ultimate reason of everything that exists, and of every divine action (Isaiah 43:7; 48:11; John 17:4; Revelation 5:12). God’s glory alone is our proper motivation as well. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).
